Plasma pen eyelid tightening: what to know

The eyelid area has thin, mobile skin and lies close to the eye, so a clinician must distinguish mild skin laxity from eyelid muscle, fat, brow position, or vision-related concerns. A plasma pen creates small treated points on the surface; healing may produce temporary tightness and a smoother appearance. Swelling, redness, crusts, and sensitivity can make the eyes look different during early recovery. The treatment is not appropriate for every eyelid concern, and it should not be performed over irritated or infected skin. A careful examination helps determine whether a non-surgical approach is sensible.

Tell the clinician about contact lenses, eye disease, dry-eye symptoms, medicines, allergies, previous procedures, and any tendency to form raised scars or pigment changes. Clarify how the eyes will be protected during treatment and which products may be used afterward. Keep hands and applicators clean, avoid rubbing or picking, and protect the healing skin from sunlight. Wait for specific clearance before using eye makeup or returning to activities that expose the area to heat, water, or dust.

Seek urgent medical assessment for eye pain, blurred or changed vision, light sensitivity, difficulty opening the eye, or marked swelling. Contact the clinic promptly for worsening redness, discharge, fever, increasing pain, or a wound that is not healing. Do not put unapproved creams or drops into the eye while waiting for advice.
