Selsun Blue is a brand name, and formulations can differ by country and product version. Check the label for the active ingredient and follow the local instructions. A medicated shampoo treatment may be used on the body for pityriasis versicolor, but ordinary cosmetic shampoo is not an equivalent treatment.

Pityriasis versicolor can produce lighter or darker patches with fine scale on the trunk, neck, shoulders or arms. The shade may remain uneven after active scale improves, so a quick visual change does not necessarily mean treatment has failed or that more product is needed.
