What should you know about pink moles on skin?

Some moles contain more visible blood vessels than brown pigment, giving them a pink, red, or flesh-coloured appearance. A mole may also look pink after rubbing, shaving, inflammation, or partial injury. The useful clues are its overall pattern and change: asymmetry, an uneven border, multiple colours, growth, persistent itching, bleeding, crusting, or a sore that does not heal. A pink colour by itself does not diagnose cancer, and many skin marks are harmless. A clinician may use magnified examination and decide whether sampling is needed.

Take a clear photo beside a simple size reference and note the date, body site, symptoms, and any recent trauma. Protect the area from sun and avoid picking or repeatedly scraping it. Do not remove a mole at home: cutting or burning can cause bleeding, scarring, infection, and loss of useful tissue for assessment.
