What should you know about pink lichen rash?

Pink patches or plaques may be triggered by irritation, allergy, heat, friction, infection, or an inflammatory skin condition. Atopic Dermatitis often itches and may leave dry, inflamed areas. Contact Dermatitis can follow a new product, fabric, adhesive, or chemical. Heat Rash tends to affect sweaty or occluded areas, while Intertrigo develops where skin rubs together. Ringworm can form a scaly edge, and Scabies often causes intense itch with lesions in characteristic locations. Psoriasis may produce well-defined, scaly plaques. A clinician may need to inspect scale or arrange testing rather than treating every pink rash with a steroid cream.

Seek urgent care for a rash with breathing difficulty, facial swelling, blistering, skin peeling, mouth or eye sores, faintness, or fever with rapid spread.
