Short answer

Pinching pain in the forearm may come from tendon, muscle or nerve irritation, and persistent symptoms deserve an examination.

This answers one question. It is not a diagnosis and does not replace an assessment by a licensed doctor.

At a glance

Notice
Exact location, provoking movement, grip strength and tingling
Avoid
Forceful stretching or repeated sharp-pain movements

Possible sources

Pain on the inner forearm near the elbow can accompany golfer's elbow, where the tendons used for gripping and wrist bending become irritated. Pain on the outer elbow side may fit tennis elbow, which involves the tendons that help lift the wrist and fingers. Repeated gripping, typing, lifting or racket work can overload these tissues. A pinching or electric sensation with tingling may instead point toward nerve irritation in the neck, elbow or wrist. Forearm pain may also follow a bruise, sudden pull or fracture. The location, movement that provokes it, grip strength and any altered sensation help guide assessment. See [Forearm Pain](/symptoms/forearm-pain/) for related symptoms.

What you can try

Temporarily reduce the gripping or lifting task that reproduces the pain, and keep the elbow and wrist moving gently within a comfortable range. Check whether your workstation or tool handle makes you bend the wrist for long periods. A wrapped cold pack can help after a recent flare; protect the skin and stop if it increases discomfort. Do not force stretches or continue an exercise that causes sharp pain. If symptoms persist, a clinician or physiotherapist can assess tendon loading, nerve function and movement before suggesting a graded programme.

When to arrange prompt care

Seek prompt assessment after a fall or blow if the arm is visibly deformed, very swollen, weak or difficult to move. Arrange medical review for progressive numbness, loss of grip, marked weakness, severe night pain or symptoms that travel into the hand. Sudden arm pain with chest pressure, breathlessness, sweating or faintness is an emergency. These features need more than home care because they can indicate nerve injury, a significant tissue injury or a non-musculoskeletal problem.
