What should you know about pico laser for keratosis pilaris?

Keratosis pilaris causes rough, small follicular bumps when keratin collects around hair follicles. The bumps often occur on the upper arms, thighs, cheeks, or buttocks. Pico laser is designed to affect pigment, not to clear the plugs themselves.

If bumps leave brown or red marks, the clinician may first confirm that the appearance is keratosis pilaris rather than acne, folliculitis, or Ingrown Hairs. Treating active irritation can be more useful than targeting colour while the skin remains inflamed.

A daily emollient can soften rough skin. Depending on the area and your skin, a clinician may suggest Topical Retinoids, a Chemical Peel, or another keratolytic routine. Apply products as directed and avoid harsh scrubbing, picking, and very hot showers.
