Possible explanations

Spotting means light bleeding outside your expected period. Friction, hormonal contraception, cervical dysplasia, chlamydia, polyps or fibroids can cause bleeding, while cramping may point to irritation or a pelvic process. Cervical cancer and womb cancer can present with abnormal bleeding, but spotting is not enough to determine the cause and many explanations are not cancer.
