Short answer

Pain in your right testicle and groin needs careful assessment because testicular emergencies and hip or muscle problems can feel similar.

This answers one question. It is not a diagnosis and does not replace an assessment by a licensed doctor.

At a glance

Urgent clue
Sudden testicular pain, swelling, nausea, or vomiting requires emergency assessment.
Record
Onset, activity triggers, urinary symptoms, fever, swelling, and hip movement effects.

What the pattern can mean

Testicular pain can come from problems within the scrotum, infection, a hernia, or referred pain from the groin, hip, or lower abdomen. Hip-related pain may be felt in the groin and can worsen with pivoting, deep bending, or prolonged activity. Hip Impingement, Hip Labral Tear, and Hip Osteoarthritis are examples of conditions a clinician may consider, but groin pain does not establish any one of them. Tell the clinician whether the pain began suddenly, follows exercise, changes with hip movement, or comes with urinary symptoms, fever, nausea, or scrotal swelling.

What you can do now

Stop strenuous activity and avoid lifting until the cause is clearer. Do not press, manipulate, or repeatedly examine a painful testicle. Supportive underwear may reduce movement-related discomfort, but it does not replace assessment. Because testicular and groin causes overlap, contact a medical service promptly for new pain, especially if it is unexplained or worsening. A clinician may examine the abdomen, groin, hips, and scrotum and arrange testing when needed. Sports Physiotherapy is relevant only after urgent causes have been excluded and a musculoskeletal source is identified.

When to seek care

Go to emergency care immediately for sudden or severe testicular pain, a high-riding or unusually positioned testicle, rapid swelling, nausea or vomiting, fever with scrotal pain, faintness, or severe abdominal pain. Seek prompt assessment for a new lump, urinary difficulty, blood in urine, discharge, or pain after an injury. Do not wait for rest to resolve sudden testicular symptoms.

Questions for your doctor

Ask: Could this pain be coming from the testicle, groin, hip, or a hernia? What examination or scan is needed? Which symptoms should send me straight to emergency care, and when would rehabilitation be appropriate?

Questions people ask

Can a hip problem cause groin pain?

Yes. Hip structures can refer pain to the groin, but testicular causes must be considered when the testicle hurts.

Can I exercise through this pain?

Avoid strenuous activity until a clinician has assessed new or unexplained testicular or groin pain.
