What it can mean
After menopause, the vaginal and uterine tissues may become thinner and more easily irritated. Dryness, inflammation, a cervical or uterine growth, and Pelvic Organ Prolapse can cause spotting or discomfort. Pain may also come from infection or another pelvic condition.
Most causes are not cancer, but bleeding can sometimes be an early sign of a womb or cervical problem. The amount of blood does not reliably show the cause, and even a small pink or brown mark should be reported.
