What should you know about otoscope led?

LED refers to the light source inside the instrument. It is designed to illuminate a small area without relying on room lighting, helping the examiner view features such as redness, swelling, fluid, wax, or a change in the eardrum. The light does not diagnose an ear problem by itself; findings are interpreted alongside symptoms and the rest of the examination.

The device may have a viewing head and a small disposable or reusable speculum. The speculum guides the view into the ear opening and should be handled carefully, particularly in children.

Tell the clinician about ear pain, discharge, reduced hearing, ringing, dizziness, recent injury, or anything placed in the ear. Do not insert cotton buds, oils, or other objects while waiting for assessment. During the examination, keep your head still and say if the instrument feels painful. A child may need reassurance and a position that keeps the ear steady.
