What should you know about an otoscope handle?

The handle contains the power source and connects to the otoscope head. Its grip helps the examiner guide the light and lens toward the ear canal without losing control. The handle itself does not diagnose an ear problem; it supports the instrument that lets a clinician inspect the canal and eardrum. Sit still and tell the clinician if the ear feels tender before the examination begins. Keep your head in the position requested while the otoscope is used.
