What should you know about otoscope for dogs ears?

Ear problems can cause scratching, head shaking, odour, discharge or tenderness. An otoscope helps the clinician look for swelling, wax, debris, parasites, a foreign object and changes near the eardrum. One ear may look different from the other. If the canal is very swollen or painful, the full view may be limited, so the clinician may recommend a different examination plan.

Write down when the signs started and whether your dog has had allergies, swimming, previous ear infections or recent ear medicine. Bring the product name if drops were used. Do not probe the ear or use leftover medicine without veterinary direction.
