How tinea versicolor behaves
Tinea versicolor is an overgrowth of yeast that normally lives on the skin. It can cause lighter, darker, pink, or tan patches with fine scaling, often on the chest, back, shoulders, or upper arms. The patches may be more noticeable after tanning because affected skin does not change colour in the same way as nearby skin.
