Orange peel chin after filler: what to know

The chin can look dimpled when the mentalis muscle contracts, especially while talking, sipping, or concentrating. Fresh injection-site swelling can make small uneven areas more visible, while filler placed close to an active muscle may change the way the surface moves. The texture may also have been present before treatment and become easier to notice after contour changes. A photograph taken at rest and during movement can help the clinician compare the pattern.

Follow the aftercare instructions you were given, protect the area from avoidable irritation, and allow early swelling to settle before judging the final contour. If the appearance is unchanged or becomes more pronounced, arrange an in-person review to discuss observation, adjustment, or another suitable approach.

Seek urgent medical assessment for severe or increasing pain, pale or dusky skin, marked swelling, blisters, spreading redness, new weakness, or any change in vision. These signs can indicate a circulation problem, infection, or another injection complication that needs prompt evaluation. Breathing difficulty or swelling of the lips, tongue, or throat requires emergency help.

Ask whether the dimpling is visible at rest, linked to mentalis movement, or related to swelling; whether the filler can be felt under the skin; and what review point is appropriate before considering any correction.
