What should you know about oral rash around mouth?

Skin around the mouth may become red, dry, scaly, itchy, cracked, or bumpy. Irritant or allergic contact dermatitis can follow toothpaste, cosmetics, lip products, saliva, food, or friction. Atopic dermatitis may cause a dry, itchy flare. Psoriasis can produce a sharply defined, scaly patch. Ringworm may form an expanding, scaly edge, while scabies often causes marked itch and may affect close contacts. Arrange prompt review for pus, increasing warmth, fever, rapidly spreading redness, painful cracks, or sores inside the mouth.
