Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer Without Treatment

Non-small cell lung cancer includes several subtypes and can be found at very different stages. A tumour limited to one lung behaves differently from disease involving lymph nodes or distant organs. Molecular features, weight changes, breathing reserve, other illnesses, and how quickly symptoms change also affect decisions.

Without treatment, cancer may continue growing or spreading, and symptoms can become harder to control. Supportive care remains available even when someone does not want cancer-directed treatment. It can address pain, breathlessness, cough, anxiety, nutrition, and practical needs.

Ask an oncologist to explain the stage, expected pattern of change, and what treatment could realistically achieve. Discuss your priorities, including time at home, symptom relief, independence, and treatment burden.
