What should you know about non-HA fillers?

Non-HA options can include collagen-stimulating products, calcium-based materials, or a person's own processed fat, depending on the treatment. They do not behave identically: some provide immediate volume, some develop a gradual tissue response, and some require a surgical procedure. Product choice depends on the facial area, skin thickness, desired change, medical history, and how reversible or adjustable the result needs to be.

Choose a licensed medical injector who can name the exact product, show its approved use, and explain alternatives. Discuss allergies, autoimmune conditions, active skin infection, previous filler, dental work, medicines that affect bleeding, and any history of cold sores. Ask whether the product can be dissolved or removed if a problem occurs. Avoid injecting through inflamed skin and follow advice about makeup, pressure, exercise, and heat after treatment.

Urgently contact the injector for unusual or worsening pain, pale or dusky skin, marked swelling on one side, cool skin, or changes in vision. These symptoms can indicate a blood-vessel problem. Fever, pus, spreading redness, or a firm painful lump also needs prompt review. Mild tenderness, swelling, or bruising can occur, but worsening symptoms should not be ignored.

Ask why a non-HA material suits the area, what result is realistic, how the product behaves over time, and how complications would be managed. Ask whether a biostimulator, Botox, or fat transfer would address your concern more appropriately.
