What should you know about NexGard for Demodex mites?

Demodex mites can live in facial hair follicles and oil glands without causing symptoms. When mite activity and inflammation are associated with symptoms, people may notice persistent facial redness, roughness, burning, itching, follicle-based bumps or eyelid irritation. Rosacea can overlap with these features, but facial redness or bumps alone do not prove a mite problem. A clinician may examine the skin and eyelashes, review triggers and distinguish Demodex-related inflammation from infection, dermatitis or another condition.

Do not apply or swallow an animal medicine to treat a human skin concern, and do not share prescription products. Arrange a dermatology or primary-care assessment, especially when symptoms involve the eyes. Use gentle cleansing, avoid scrubbing and pause new irritating cosmetics while waiting for advice. If treatment is appropriate, the clinician can select a human medicine, explain where it goes, review interactions and set a follow-up plan. Medicated shampoo products are not automatically suitable for facial or eyelid skin.

Seek urgent care for eye pain, light sensitivity, vision change, marked eyelid swelling, facial swelling, breathing difficulty or a severe reaction after using any product. Arrange a timely appointment for persistent redness, crusting, eyelash loss, recurrent bumps or symptoms that are spreading. If an animal medicine has been swallowed or applied to the eyes, contact urgent medical or poison advice rather than waiting for skin symptoms.
