What should you know about mumps vaccine?

MMR combines protection against measles, mumps, and rubella. Vaccination trains the immune system to recognise these viruses, helping prevent illness and reducing transmission within families and communities. Protection is not a reason to ignore symptoms: a vaccinated person can still need assessment after a relevant exposure or if fever and gland swelling develop. Check your vaccination record and ask a clinician whether you need a catch-up dose or a review of your history. Mention pregnancy, plans for pregnancy, immune-system conditions, severe allergies, and medicines that affect immunity before vaccination.
