What should you know about mild pcl sprain?

Short answer
A mild PCL sprain is a stretched or partially injured knee ligament that usually needs protection, rehabilitation, and monitoring of stability.
This answers one question. It is not a diagnosis and does not replace an assessment by a licensed doctor.

What a mild PCL sprain means
The posterior cruciate ligament helps prevent the shinbone from moving too far backward beneath the thighbone. A blow to the front of the knee, a fall onto a bent knee, or a twisting injury can strain it. Pain, swelling, stiffness, and a feeling of knee weakness may occur, though the degree of symptoms does not by itself show the full injury. Examination can include movement and stability tests; imaging may be considered when the diagnosis is unclear or other structures may be injured.
What to do next
In the early phase, reduce pivoting, running, deep squats, and activities that make the knee buckle. Use comfortable walking limits, elevation, and cold therapy if they help and are safe for your skin. A brace or Splinting may be suggested to protect motion while symptoms settle. Physiotherapy can then build quadriceps and hip strength, restore control, and guide a gradual return to activity. Kinesiology Taping may provide temporary support for some people but does not replace rehabilitation.
When to seek care
Seek urgent assessment if the knee is visibly deformed, locks, becomes rapidly very swollen, or cannot bear weight, or if the foot becomes cold, pale, numb, or weak. Arrange review when pain or swelling is worsening, the knee repeatedly gives way, or recovery is not progressing. A high-energy injury may damage more than the PCL even when initial symptoms seem mild.
Questions for your doctor
Ask whether the PCL appears stretched or torn, whether other ligaments or cartilage need checking, and what range of motion and weight-bearing are safe. Clarify brace use, exercises to begin, signs of instability, and the milestones for returning to work, driving, or sport.

Questions people ask
Can a mild PCL sprain heal without surgery?
Many isolated mild injuries are managed without surgery, using protection and progressive rehabilitation; an examination is needed to confirm the plan.
When can I return to sport?
Return should be gradual after swelling, movement, strength, and knee control have improved and a clinician or physiotherapist agrees.
