What should you know about mild oral lichen planus?

Oral lichen planus may look like fine white lines or a web-like pattern on the cheeks, gums, tongue, or other mouth lining. Some people have only visible patches; others notice burning, sensitivity, or shallow sore areas, especially with spicy, acidic, salty, or rough foods. The mouth can be affected even when skin symptoms are absent. A dental or medical examination helps distinguish it from thrush, irritation, allergy, or other mouth conditions.

Use a soft toothbrush and a mild toothpaste, keep regular but gentle oral hygiene, and avoid tobacco and alcohol-based mouthwash.
