Melasma on the underarms: what to know

Melasma is most often discussed on exposed facial skin, so pigmentation in an underarm deserves a broader look. A flat brown or grey-brown colour can follow shaving, waxing, deodorant irritation, friction, or a previous rash. Other skin conditions can also cause darker, thicker, or velvety underarm skin.
