What should you know about Melanage chemical peel?

A chemical peel places one or more exfoliating ingredients on the skin for a controlled period. The solution loosens connections between surface cells, which can make roughness, dullness, and some uneven pigment less noticeable as the skin renews. A protocol may be adjusted for Melasma, Sun Spots, Post-Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation, acne-related texture, or sun-damaged skin.

Melanage is a product name, not a promise that every person receives the same ingredients or strength. Glycolic Acid and other exfoliants can irritate if the skin barrier is fragile, if active dermatitis is present, or if several strong products are combined.

Tell the practitioner about recent sun exposure, cold sores, allergies, active rashes, retinoids, exfoliants, waxing, and previous pigment changes after irritation. On the day, arrive with clean skin and follow the clinic’s instructions. Afterward, expect the treated area to feel tight, warm, dry, or mildly sensitive; flaking may occur as the surface sheds.

Use only the recommended cleanser and moisturiser, do not pick peeling skin, and protect the area from sun with shade, clothing, and sunscreen. Delay other exfoliating treatments until the clinician says the barrier has recovered.

Contact the treating clinic for increasing pain, marked swelling, blistering, pus, spreading redness, or a darkening reaction that is more than expected. Seek urgent help for facial swelling with breathing difficulty. A new changing or bleeding spot should be assessed separately rather than treated as cosmetic pigment.
