The product and strength should be matched to your skin, concern, and recent skincare. Ingredients may include glycolic acid or other exfoliating acids. A session can cause temporary warmth, tingling, tightness, redness, dryness, or peeling as the outer layer sheds. Results develop as the skin settles and may require a planned series rather than one appointment.

A peel may be discussed for acne, blocked pores, rough follicular bumps, melasma, sun spots, sun-damaged skin, or post-inflammatory dark marks. It is not suitable for every active rash, open wound, infection, or recently irritated area.

Tell the practitioner about eczema, cold sores, recent sun exposure, pregnancy, prescription creams, retinoids, and any history of dark marks after irritation. Follow the advised pause for irritating products. After treatment, use gentle cleansing, moisturiser, and broad-spectrum sun protection; do not pick or pull peeling skin.

Avoid adding scrubs, waxing, hot treatments, or strong active products until the skin has recovered as instructed. Keep the appointment plan flexible if your skin is unusually sensitive on the day.

Contact the treating clinic for persistent intense burning, increasing swelling, worsening pain, weeping areas, or marked colour change. Urgent assessment is appropriate for facial swelling with breathing difficulty, eye symptoms, or blistering that is spreading.

Ask which acid and strength are planned, what downtime is realistic for your skin, which products to stop, and how pigmentation risk will be managed. Ask whether your current acne, melasma, or post-inflammatory marks need another treatment first.
