Medicine for vomiting and stomach pain

A brief illness may reflect gastroenteritis, food poisoning, gastritis, or acid reflux. Pain in a particular area, pain after meals, or pain that steadily worsens can point to a problem needing examination, such as gallstones or diverticular disease. Vomiting can also occur with inflammatory bowel conditions, including Crohn's disease, so the wider pattern matters.

Sip fluids often and rest. Once you can eat, choose small, plain meals and avoid alcohol or foods that clearly trigger symptoms. A pharmacist may suggest an anti-sickness or acid-relieving medicine after checking your medicines, pregnancy status, and other conditions. Avoid taking leftover antibiotics or repeated painkillers without advice, because some medicines can irritate the stomach or hide a worsening problem.

Get urgent help for sudden severe pain, a hard or swollen abdomen, vomiting blood, black stools, fainting, confusion, fever with marked illness, or inability to keep fluids down. Seek prompt assessment when pain localises and worsens, follows an injury, or comes with yellow skin, persistent vomiting, or very little urine. Children, older adults, and pregnant people may need earlier advice.
