What should you know about medication to increase blood pressure?

Low blood pressure can follow dehydration, illness, blood loss, or medicines that lower pressure. Some people have naturally low readings without needing treatment. A clinician may first review medicines, fluid intake, posture-related symptoms, pulse, and repeated readings. Treatment can include addressing the cause, changing a contributing medicine, or prescribing a drug that helps blood vessels tighten or helps the body retain fluid. These medicines can raise pressure too far when the underlying problem changes, so they need supervision.

Take the prescribed dose at the instructed time and do not increase it after a single low reading.
