Medi Peel Cooling Skin: What to Know

A cooling or fresh sensation can occur while a chemical peel is on the skin or shortly afterwards. The product, air movement, and moisture evaporating from the surface can change how the skin feels. Cooling does not by itself show how deeply the peel has worked.

As the skin settles, mild tightness, dryness, sensitivity, or visible flaking may follow. Peeling can be uneven, and some people notice little visible shedding. The face may feel more reactive to heat, friction, fragranced products, or sunlight during this period. Peeling skin can also have unrelated causes, including sunburn, psoriasis, or athlete’s foot when the affected area is the foot; the symptom alone does not identify one diagnosis.

Follow the aftercare instructions supplied by the treating clinician, because the product combination and strength affect what is appropriate. Cleanse gently with lukewarm water and a mild, non-scrubbing cleanser. Pat rather than rub, then apply the recommended bland moisturiser. Protect exposed skin from sunlight with shade, clothing, and the sunscreen advised for your skin.

Do not pull, pick, or scrub loose flakes. Pause unapproved exfoliants, retinoids, waxing, and strongly fragranced products until the clinician says the skin barrier has settled. Avoid applying ice directly to the skin. If a product causes marked burning, wash it off as instructed and contact the provider for personalised advice.

Contact the treating clinic promptly if burning or pain is strong, symptoms are worsening rather than settling, or redness spreads beyond the treated area. Arrange medical assessment for marked swelling, blisters, open or oozing skin, pus, fever, or eye symptoms. Seek urgent care for trouble breathing, facial swelling involving the lips or throat, or a rapidly developing widespread rash.

Ask which cleanser, moisturiser, and sunscreen to use, when to restart active skincare, and which changes are expected with the exact peel applied. Tell the clinician about eczema, recent sun exposure, cold sores, allergies, and any medicines or products that may make your skin more sensitive.
