What measles and rubella vaccine means

The wording usually refers to protection against two separate viral infections, often delivered in a combined product such as MMR. Measles can cause fever, cough and a widespread rash. Rubella may be mild but can be dangerous during pregnancy because of its effect on an unborn baby. Vaccination prepares immune memory before exposure; it is not a treatment for a current rash or fever. A record may show a product name, a programme dose or a catch-up dose, so the exact entry matters.
