What should you know about MMR immunity?

A person can feel well without knowing their immune status. Conversely, a fever, rash or swollen gland does not prove that protection has failed. [Fever](/symptoms/fever/) has many causes, and [Swollen Glands](/symptoms/swollen-glands/) may occur with several infections.

Look for official immunisation records and tell the clinician about previous doses, suspected past illness, pregnancy, immune-system problems and medicines. Get urgent help for breathing problems, a seizure, confusion, severe drowsiness, a stiff neck or inability to drink. Seek prompt advice after a known exposure or for fever with a new rash, especially if the person is pregnant, very young or has reduced immunity. Call ahead before attending in person.
