What should you know about measles inoculation?

The measles component is commonly given as part of the MMR vaccine, which also covers mumps and rubella. It does not cause measles. After vaccination, the immune system builds a memory of the virus, so exposure can be handled more effectively. Protection is not the same as treating an illness that has already started.
