What should you know about mandelic acid skin prep water?

Mandelic acid is an alpha hydroxy acid. In a watery formula, it can loosen connections between some surface skin cells, helping dull or uneven-looking skin shed more evenly. The product may feel mildly tingly, especially when the skin barrier is dry or already irritated. It does not replace a cleanser, moisturiser, sunscreen, or treatment prescribed for a skin condition.

The word prep often describes a toner-like step used after cleansing. It does not mean the product prepares every skin type for a procedure, and a cosmetic prep water should not be confused with a clinic-applied peel.
