What should you know about magnesium sulphate for cow?

“Cow” does not identify a diagnosis. A cow may have a wound, swollen limb, hoof problem, skin irritation, digestive illness, or another condition, and each needs different care. Magnesium sulphate products vary in strength and intended use. A product prepared for people may be unsuitable for an animal, while an animal product may require instructions about handling, dilution, withdrawal periods, or disposal.

Do not give magnesium sulphate by mouth, place it in feed or water, or apply it to a wound until a veterinarian has confirmed the reason, product, route, and amount. Keep the cow in a clean, dry area and note when the problem began, where it is located, whether the animal is eating and drinking, and any change in movement or behaviour. Use gloves around bodily fluids and keep medicines away from children and food preparation areas. If this question concerns a person rather than an animal, say so clearly when seeking care.

Contact a veterinarian urgently for inability to stand, severe lameness, heavy bleeding, marked swelling, breathing difficulty, repeated collapse, suspected poisoning, or refusal to eat or drink. A newborn calf, pregnant cow, or animal that has recently given birth may need faster assessment when it appears unwell. Do not wait for a bath or home remedy to change a serious sign.
