What should you know about lush keratosis pilaris?

Short answer
Lush keratosis pilaris usually describes a visibly abundant or velvety field of tiny follicular bumps, managed with steady moisturising and gentle texture-smoothing care.
This answers one question. It is not a diagnosis and does not replace an assessment by a licensed doctor.

- Rough, tiny bumps around follicles.

How keratosis pilaris looks
Keratosis pilaris forms when keratin collects around hair follicles, producing rough, sandpaper-like bumps. They commonly appear on the outer upper arms, thighs, cheeks, or buttocks and may be skin-coloured, red, or darker than nearby skin. Dryness can make the texture more noticeable. It is not the same as acne, although inflamed bumps can be mistaken for spots. New tenderness, pus, marked warmth, or a sudden change suggests another process such as Ingrown Hairs or a skin infection.
A practical skin-care routine
Apply a fragrance-free moisturiser soon after bathing and keep showers warm rather than hot. Products containing lactic acid, urea, or salicylic acid may soften roughness when tolerated; introduce one active product at a time and stop if burning or a rash develops. Do not scrub, squeeze, or use rough gloves, because friction can increase redness and discoloration. A dermatologist can tailor Emollient Therapy or Topical Retinoids to your skin. Chemical Peel or Laser Hair Removal may be discussed for selected concerns, but neither is a universal solution for follicular bumps.
When to arrange an assessment
Arrange a review if the bumps are painful, pus-filled, rapidly spreading, intensely itchy, or leaving thick scars or persistent colour change. An appointment is also useful when the diagnosis is uncertain, home care has not helped, or the texture affects your confidence. Skin Bumps that are limited to one unusual area or appear suddenly deserve examination because several conditions can resemble keratosis pilaris.
Questions for your doctor
Are these bumps keratosis pilaris or another follicular condition? Which moisturiser and active ingredient fit my skin? How often should I use it? Would an in-clinic treatment help colour, texture, or both?
