Lump Under the Skin of the Abdomen: What to Know

A lump close to the surface may be soft, rubbery, or mobile and can arise from a blocked pore, cyst, or fatty tissue. Do not squeeze or massage the lump, and do not try to drain it with a needle. Record whether it is painful, fixed, warm, draining, or changing size. If the lump follows surgery, an injury, an injection, or a wound, include that history.
