Prescribed anti-inflammatory or immune-targeting treatment should be taken as directed; stopping it suddenly can allow inflammation to return. Follow-up may include blood tests and bowel monitoring, including Colorectal Cancer Screening when advised.

Seek urgent help for heavy or continuous rectal bleeding, severe or worsening abdominal swelling or pain, repeated vomiting, high fever, faintness, dehydration or inability to pass stool and gas. A rapid change in bowel symptoms can need same-day assessment. Contact your care team promptly when a known flare is not responding to the agreed plan.
