Lotrimin for diaper rash: what should you know?

Nappy rash often follows prolonged contact with moisture, stool, urine, friction, or irritating products. A yeast component may be suspected when redness involves the skin folds, looks shiny or vivid, and has small spots around the main rash. Those clues are not a diagnosis. Lotrimin is a topical antifungal medicine, so it targets yeast or fungal organisms rather than simple irritation. A clinician or pharmacist can help distinguish these patterns, especially in a young baby or when the skin is broken.

Follow the product label or a clinician's directions for the exact formulation and age group. Apply only to clean, gently dried skin, keep it away from the eyes and mouth, and wash your hands before and after use. Change nappies promptly, give the area brief air exposure, and avoid scrubbing, fragranced wipes, and talc.
