What should you know about the longest survivor of TNBC?

Triple-negative breast cancer lacks three treatment targets used for some other breast cancers, but it is not one identical illness in every person. Tumour size, lymph-node involvement, spread, inherited gene changes and response to treatment can differ. A person who has lived many years after TNBC may provide encouragement, yet their experience cannot set a deadline or guarantee a similar result.

Ask for a plain-language explanation of your pathology report and treatment goals. Keep appointments, report side effects and discuss exercise, nutrition, emotional health and practical support. Treatment may involve chemotherapy, immunotherapy or PARP inhibitor therapy when the clinical features make those options appropriate. Your team can explain why a treatment is recommended and how response will be checked.

Tell your breast cancer team about a new lump, persistent bone or chest pain, worsening breathlessness, severe headache, weakness, unexplained swelling or symptoms that interfere with eating and drinking. Seek urgent care for severe breathing trouble, sudden weakness, collapse or confusion. Such symptoms require assessment and are not proof that cancer has returned.
