Dissolving treatment commonly targets hyaluronic acid filler, so the visible fullness created by that product may reduce. The final appearance is easier to judge once early inflammation has calmed. If the filler was placed in several sessions, some product may remain and the result may be gradual rather than immediate.

Use the aftercare instructions from the treating clinician. Keep the area clean, avoid pressing or massaging the lips unless specifically advised, and use gentle products if the skin feels dry. Cool compresses wrapped in a clean cloth may ease discomfort. Avoid scheduling another cosmetic injection until the lips have been examined and the tissues have settled; the clinician can decide whether further dissolving or a new treatment is appropriate.

Take clear photographs in similar lighting if the shape changes, and record when swelling, pain, or colour changes begin. This gives the injector useful information at follow-up.

Seek urgent medical help for trouble breathing, throat or tongue swelling, faintness, rapidly spreading facial swelling, severe pain, blistering, or skin that becomes pale, dusky, or unusually cold. Contact the treating clinic promptly for worsening redness, warmth, discharge, fever, or swelling that continues to intensify. These findings need an examination because they can signal an allergic reaction, infection, or a blood-flow problem.

Ask which filler was used, whether the dissolving treatment was expected to be complete, and when your lips should be reassessed. Clarify which symptoms are expected during recovery, whether you should avoid pressure or exercise for a period, and what options exist if unevenness remains.
