What should you know about liposuction fat transfer to breast?

The surgeon removes fat through liposuction, processes it, and places small amounts into planned breast areas. This can combine contouring at the donor site with added breast fullness or shape. It is different from an implant and may not provide the same change in size or projection.

Some transferred fat may not remain, and the breast can change with weight fluctuations, pregnancy, and ageing. Fat necrosis, oil cysts, asymmetry, infection, bleeding, and changes that need imaging review are possible concerns to discuss before consent.

A consultation should cover your goals, donor areas, breast health, medical history, medications, smoking or nicotine use, and any planned breast screening. Your surgeon may explain whether you have enough suitable donor fat and how scars, shape, and staged treatment affect the plan.

After surgery, follow wound care, compression, activity, and sleep-position instructions. Report changes rather than pressing or massaging the breasts unless specifically advised. Keep scheduled reviews so healing and any lumps can be assessed.

Contact the surgical team for increasing redness, drainage, fever, worsening pain, a new hard area, or sudden asymmetry. Seek emergency help for severe breathlessness, chest pain, fainting, or heavy bleeding.

Ask what change is realistic for your anatomy, where fat will be taken, how breast screening may be affected, how lumps are evaluated, and what happens if the result is uneven or insufficient.
