What should you know about lipo fat transfer to breast?

A surgeon first selects a donor area, such as the abdomen, flanks, thighs, or another area with suitable fat. After removal, the fat is processed and injected into planned breast layers using small access points. The result can provide a soft contour change and may improve proportion, but the available fat and breast tissue limit the amount that can be added. Early swelling, bruising, and firmness can obscure the eventual shape, and some transferred fat may not remain.

Discuss your breast goals, donor areas, asymmetry, scars, future screening, and whether more than one stage could be appropriate. Tell the surgeon about illnesses, medicines, smoking, prior breast operations, and changes you have noticed in the breast. Follow directions for dressings, compression, sleep, bathing, and activity. Keep every review so the team can check wounds, breast shape, and donor-site healing.

Call the surgical team for fever, worsening redness, drainage, an opening wound, rapidly increasing swelling, or pain that is not improving. A new breast lump or persistent firm area should be examined, especially if it changes or is associated with skin or nipple changes. Seek emergency help for chest pain, severe breathlessness, fainting, or sudden leg swelling.

Ask how much change is realistic, where fat will be taken, how breast imaging will be documented, what support you need during recovery, and how uneven healing or later revisions would be handled.
