Lion implanter pen

An implanter pen, also called a Choi implanter or DHI pen, has a hollow needle and a plunger. The clinician loads a prepared follicular graft, makes or uses the intended entry point, and releases the graft at a chosen depth and direction. The instrument can support controlled placement, but the outcome also depends on diagnosis, graft quality, hairline planning, handling and the operator's skill. It is a tool, not a guarantee of density or natural appearance.

Have the cause and pattern of hair loss assessed before discussing a transplant. Ask who will extract, prepare and implant the grafts, how the hairline will be designed, and whether the pen is appropriate for your hair characteristics and recipient area. Review medical conditions, medicines and scalp problems, then receive written aftercare about washing, sleeping position, exercise and sun exposure. Follow the clinic's instructions carefully and avoid picking at crusts while the scalp heals.

Contact the treating team if pain, redness, warmth, drainage or swelling is increasing instead of settling, or if you develop fever. Prompt assessment is needed for heavy bleeding, rapidly worsening swelling or an allergic reaction. Later, report persistent scalp tenderness, pus, marked scarring or sudden loss of implanted hairs so the cause can be examined.

Ask what type of graft placement is planned, how donor hairs will be protected, and how the proposed hairline accounts for future loss. Ask about recovery, realistic density, possible visible scarring and the clinician's plan if growth is uneven.
