Lichen Planus and Lichenoid Reaction

Both can produce itchy, flat-topped or scaly bumps and colour changes, so appearance alone may not identify the cause. A lichenoid reaction can follow exposure to a medicine or product and may improve when the responsible trigger is found and safely changed. Lichen planus can affect several body sites and may need longer monitoring. A dermatologist may review medicine timing, examine the mouth and nails, and consider a biopsy. Bring a complete list of medicines, supplements, and skin or dental products, including anything started before the rash. Do not stop an essential medicine without the prescriber’s advice.
