Keep the result available for a clinician or hearing professional. Do not insert objects into the ear to clear it. A professional examination can check the ear canal, eardrum, and pattern of hearing change before treatment or hearing support is considered.

Arrange a clinical assessment for persistent hearing difficulty, one-sided change, ear pain, discharge, or recurring blockage. Seek urgent care for sudden hearing loss, especially in one ear, or hearing change with severe dizziness, facial weakness, severe headache, or other neurological symptoms. A hearing test cannot replace prompt assessment when symptoms begin suddenly.
