What should you know about letrozole skin rash treatment?

A clinician may ask when the rash began, examine its colour and texture, and check for itching, pain, warmth, swelling, fever, blisters, peeling, or sores. They may also review recent products, infections, and medicines because more than one cause can look similar.

A mild, localised irritation may be managed differently from a rapidly spreading reaction. The rash does not establish the cause of your cancer symptoms or show whether letrozole is working. Do not hide the affected area with a new product before assessment if that could alter its appearance.

Use lukewarm water and a fragrance-free moisturiser if the skin is dry, wear loose clothing, and avoid heat, sun exposure, friction, and scratching. Keep a note of products applied and photograph changes in good light.

Your oncology team may recommend a prescribed cream, an antihistamine, another supportive measure, or a treatment review. Use only the amount and duration advised. Do not apply leftover antibiotics, strong steroid creams, or herbal preparations without checking first.

Seek emergency help for breathing difficulty, throat or tongue swelling, faintness, or rapidly spreading hives. Seek urgent assessment for skin pain, blistering, peeling, purple discolouration, fever, or ulcers involving the mouth, eyes, or genitals.

Ask whether the appearance fits a medicine reaction, which treatment is safe with your cancer medicines, whether the next letrozole dose should be taken, and what change requires immediate review.
