What should you know about letrozole pills?

Letrozole is an aromatase inhibitor. By reducing oestrogen production, it can help control breast cancer cells whose growth is driven by this hormone. The treatment may be used after other cancer treatment or as part of a longer-term plan. A prescription is tailored to your diagnosis and health; the tablet’s appearance alone does not tell you whether it is appropriate.

Because letrozole affects hormone levels, it can also affect bones, joints, mood, and reproductive health. These changes deserve review rather than silent acceptance.

Store the medicine as directed and take each pill exactly as prescribed. Use a reminder, but do not take two pills to compensate for a missed dose unless your prescriber specifically tells you to. Keep the original label and show it when another clinician prescribes a medicine. Mention supplements, hormone products, allergies, previous fractures, liver conditions, and plans for pregnancy. Report hot flushes, stiffness, muscle aches, fatigue, sleep difficulty, or vaginal symptoms when they are bothersome.

Contact your care team if pain becomes limiting, you develop unusual bleeding, severe tiredness, yellowing of the eyes, or a symptom that feels new after a dose change. Emergency assessment is needed for severe breathing trouble, chest pain, fainting, swelling of the lips or throat, or a serious skin reaction. Keep taking or pausing treatment only as advised by the appropriate clinician.
