Letrozole for height growth

Letrozole lowers oestrogen production. Oestrogen is involved in the changes that eventually close growth plates, including in boys, so a specialist may sometimes consider hormone treatment in a narrowly defined growth assessment. That does not make letrozole suitable for routine height increase, and the effect cannot be predicted from age or current height alone.

Growth depends on genetics, nutrition, general health, puberty, and the condition of the growth plates. Lowering oestrogen can also affect bone strength, mood, joints, sexual development, and other hormone systems. Children and adolescents need particular care because development is still changing.

Do not use leftover tablets, online products, or an adult's prescription to change height. Arrange an appointment with a paediatrician or paediatric endocrinologist if growth or puberty is a concern. They may review the growth pattern, family heights, nutrition, puberty signs, medicines, and previous health problems.

If letrozole has already been taken, tell the clinician the product, amount, dates, and any other hormones or supplements. Do not alter the plan based on internet dosing schedules.

Seek urgent help for severe headache with vision changes, fainting, chest pain, severe breathing difficulty, sudden weakness, or a serious allergic reaction. Contact the prescribing clinician promptly for severe mood change, significant joint or bone pain, or unexpected changes in puberty or sexual development.

Ask whether growth plates and puberty have been assessed, what diagnosis is being considered, which benefits and harms are relevant, and how bone health and development would be monitored if treatment were discussed.
