What should you know about left hand fingers numb and tingling?

Pins and needles in the thumb, index, and middle fingers may occur when the median nerve is irritated at the wrist, as with Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. Tingling in the little finger and part of the ring finger can involve the ulnar nerve near the elbow, as in Cubital Tunnel Syndrome. Record which fingers tingle, whether symptoms are constant or intermittent, and whether sleep, typing, driving, or elbow bending triggers them. A clinician can compare sensation, grip, reflexes, neck movement, and circulation.
