What should you know about laser genital wart removal?

A clinician examines the lesions and chooses treatment based on their location, size, number, and appearance. Laser energy is applied precisely to wart tissue, usually with local anaesthetic. The treated area can be sore, swollen, or lightly bleeding while it heals. Warts may return because treatment addresses visible lesions rather than clearing human papillomavirus from surrounding skin.

Do not cut, burn, or use pharmacy wart products on genital skin without medical advice. Tell the clinician if you are pregnant, immunocompromised, or taking medicines that affect bleeding. Keep the area clean, avoid friction, and follow instructions about washing, sexual contact, and dressings. A partner discussion and screening for other sexually transmitted infections may also be appropriate.

Contact the treating clinic for worsening pain, spreading redness, heavy bleeding, pus, fever, or difficulty passing urine. Seek assessment for a new, rapidly changing, ulcerated, or bleeding growth because not every genital lump is a wart.
