What should you know about labial fat transfer?

A clinician removes a small amount of fat from a donor area, processes it, and places it into selected parts of the labia through small openings. The aim may be to restore fullness after weight change, ageing, childbirth, or naturally uneven tissue. A consultation should cover anatomy, desired change, medical history, medications, smoking, and whether another concern is causing discomfort.

Swelling, bruising, tenderness, and temporary asymmetry can occur after treatment. Some transferred fat may be absorbed, so the early appearance is not the final result. The amount of fullness and how long it lasts cannot be promised in advance.

Choose a qualified medical practitioner who regularly performs intimate-area procedures and can explain the technique, anaesthesia, alternatives, and follow-up plan. Before treatment, ask which medicines or supplements need changing and how to arrange transport home.

Follow wound-care instructions, keep the area clean and dry as advised, wear loose clothing, and avoid pressure, strenuous activity, sexual activity, and swimming until your clinician clears them. Attend follow-up visits so healing and any unevenness can be assessed. Do not inject products or massage healing tissue unless specifically instructed.

Contact your treating clinic promptly for increasing pain, spreading redness, worsening swelling, pus, wound separation, fever, or difficulty passing urine. Seek urgent care for heavy bleeding, faintness, breathing trouble, chest pain, or sudden severe pain. These symptoms need assessment rather than observation at home.

Ask what change is realistic for your anatomy, where fat will be taken from, how discomfort will be managed, what activity limits apply, how complications are handled, and whether a different option such as dermal fillers or another approach is more suitable.
