What should you know about labia augmentation with fat transfer?

A clinician first discusses your goals, examines the external anatomy, and checks whether the procedure is suitable. Fat is collected from a donor area, prepared, and placed through small openings in the labia majora. Swelling, bruising, tenderness, and temporary asymmetry can occur while tissues settle. Some transferred fat may not remain, so the final appearance cannot be judged during early healing.

This is different from a filler treatment: your own tissue is used, and the procedure includes both a donor site and a treated site. It may be considered for reduced fullness, age-related volume change, or an appearance concern, but it does not treat internal vaginal conditions.

Choose a qualified clinician who routinely performs intimate-area procedures and ask where the fat will be taken, how discomfort will be managed, and what follow-up is included. Share medicines, allergies, previous procedures, pregnancy plans, and any active skin or genital infection before treatment.

Contact the treating clinic promptly for worsening rather than improving pain, rapidly increasing swelling, spreading redness, marked one-sided change, drainage, wound separation, fever, or difficulty urinating. Seek urgent care for severe pain with pale, blue, or dark skin, heavy bleeding, faintness, breathing trouble, or signs of a serious allergic or infectious reaction.

Ask what outcome is realistic for your anatomy, whether another procedure may be needed, where scars or donor-site changes may appear, how sexual activity and exercise will be restarted, and who to contact outside office hours.
